Oeno Island, also known as Holiday Island, is a small coral atoll in the South Pacific Ocean that is part of the British overseas territory of the Pitcairn Islands. Located 143 km (89 mi) northwest of Pitcairn Island, it is around 5 km (3 mi) in diameter, and this includes the central lagoon as well, with a total combined area of 20 square km (8 square mi).
Unfortunately, due to the sensitive nature that is present here, Oeno Island may only be visited with the prior permission of the Commissioner for the Pitcairn Islands in New Zealand. This is why it is a unique place, because the islanders who are lucky to get this permission feel free to leave their possessions on the island, as they know that they will not be taken or vandalized in any way.

Due to the very small size of the island, being small and flat with great beaches, but most importantly, surrounded by a circular reef, it primarily serves as a paradise and holiday destination (so to speak) of the local Pitcairners. Interestingly enough, the island is covered with palm trees, lovely beaches, and a sheltered lagoon, creating the perfect Pacific escape that will leave everyone breathless. The Oeno Island was first seen in June 1819 by Captain James Henderson of the British East India Company, but the island got its name from the American whaler ship on 26 January 1824, which was led by Captain George Worth.
The island is a vital area for the Murphy’s petrels, which is a species of seabird and a member of the gadfly petrels, hence why the island has been identified as an Important Bird Area. For visitors fortunate enough to set foot on this pristine land, the journey is destined to become an unforgettable memory, but if you would like to commemorate this unique travel experience, custom coins can be used as a souvenir of your trip to Oeno Island.
